Public Awareness
We work in African countries that have significant wild chimpanzee populations to increase public awareness about the need to conserve the natural environment so that people and great apes benefit.
What We Do
Billboards
Many people are not aware that hunting chimpanzees is illegal. Placing billboards near markets and places where bushmeat is often consumed raises awareness that killing great apes is illegal.
Education Campaigns
We’ve seen an increase in reporting of illegal hunting as a result. Even better, there has been a decline in commercial hunting and trade in areas where we’ve run public awareness campaigns such as in the Republic of Congo.
Roots & Shoots
Through our Roots & Shoots programme we provide support to educators in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda. Children learn about conservation and the importance of protecting wildlife and natural areas.
